Component apps
It is another day in the build-out of the JWS infrastructure, and as I have mentioned here before, of all the companies in the world to be first to market, it is Siebel that, at least in name, appears to be leading the charge toward componentization:http://www.infoworld.com/article/05/12/19/51NNbeasiebel_1.html
I will also note the efforts made by SAP, though I seriously doubt their claim of thousands of separate services. If these are cross-platform (beyone NetWeaver) and can be used inter-operably among each other, than I will issue a correction here, but I am not holding my breath.
The one company that could change the nature of the components market is my friends at Diamelle:

They have traditionally been out front on the components message, and it looks like they have built a nice new capability with identity management. I will be attentive to see what this does for the rest of their web services message. But in the very least it demonstrates their ongoing viability to survive and prosper - - reminds of me of a company from ATL...
I would be remiss to not suggest that their other component apps are also viable, for building marketplaces and conducting customer relationship management, but in the short-term, I look forward to their work with identity management. More to come on this and other apps topics...
